MAY 2009 NEWSLETTER
It seems like everyone is in a panic these days about the economy, stressing out over money, their job stability and a number of other “concerns.” The media continues to cry WOLF and fails to recognize a lot of the positive signs that things aren’t really as bad as they are trying to make us believe.
Unemployment figures have only raised about 3% nationwide since November 2007, the start of the current recession to around 10%. In comparison, the unemployment rate during the “Great Depression” was 25%! 90+% of people are still working! Drive down to Disney for a real wake-up call. The parking lots are still pretty full. So are the parking lots at most restaurants, shopping areas, and sporting events. While people may be cutting back on their spending, they sure aren’t staying at home and doing nothing! In fact, most people continue to live their lives normally and have only made small adjustments to their lifestyles to live a little more within their means.
While the stock market has taken quite a plunge, history shows that it has done the same thing several times during the past 50 years. After the resignation of President Nixon and the whole Watergate scandal in 1974 the market fell drastically – and rebounded to the prior level by 1976. In the recession in the early 90’s it did the same thing – and then rose to over 10,000 right before September 11, 2001, when it plunged again. It only took a matter of months to regain all of its losses after 9-11 taking the market to its all time high of nearly 14,000 points! Since March 2, 2009 the stock market has GAINED 21% from its lowest drop during the current recession! This is an indication that things are starting to get better. The market is always the first indicator that a recession is over!
The housing market bubble “popped” at the same time everything else happened. Myriads of people who couldn’t afford the mortgages that the banks were forced to give to them by government regulation ended up walking away from their homes and leaving them for the bank to deal with. Yes, foreclosures are up in Florida. Actually, there are only 5 states where foreclosures are up and Florida happens to be one of them. In the rest of the country, the housing market remains fairly stable – but we sure haven’t heard that from the media.
Personally, I am choosing to NOT listen to the media or read the newspaper’s doom and gloom. I refuse to participate in the “recession” and get all worked up and stressed out! Instead, I’m going to do my best to live life and thank God that I have a job that can help others eliminate some of their stress! Join me in refusing to participate in the recession!!! If you are feeling all stressed out, give me a call! A massage can help you eliminate your stress and regain your focus and positive attitude!

BODY MASSAGE: THE HEALING TOUCH
|
Most of us experience the desire to present our fatigued bodies to a masseur to massage away all the aches and pains caused by physical stress and mental tension. The pain just seems to vanish out of your system once it is their expert hands. If you keep dreaming about this on your low days, you are probably not alone for massage is a known pain and stress reliever. Massage at its best has the power to restore the individual physically, mentally and spiritually.
What is a full body massage?
Technically, full body massage is a hands-on manipulation of the skin, muscle and joints to relax muscle spasm, relieve tension, improve circulation and hasten elimination of toxins and wastes from the body. Massage is an ancient art. It has been known to be in practice in the Orient for over 3000 years. The expert hands of the masseur not only rubs away fatigue inducing stress but also improves blood circulation in the body. Apart from creating a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissue (the muscles, tendons and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it mainly affects the muscles just underneath the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and possibly even the internal organs.
Massage Therapy: Alternative medicine?
An essential part of alternative medicine, massage has gained popularity in the West too and is widely used to treat a variety of ailments. Different forms of massage include – Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Reflexology, Myofascial Release, Positional Release, Acupressure, Sports Massage, Trager, Trigger Point Therapy, Healing Touch Massage, Reiki and other energy work. Aromatherapy massage makes use of aromatic essential oils known for their stress relieving effects. Manipulation of soft tissues affects many of our bodily systems; hence massage therapy stands to help many of the health problems we face today.

Full Body Massage helps you relax!
Although even a one odd massage does leave you with a pleasant feeling, the effects of massage are cumulative and undergoing a series or course of massage treatments is what will give you the maximum benefits. Regular massages strengthen and tone the muscles and boost the entire body mechanism, so as to prevent unnecessary strains and injuries. Massage has the power to stimulate the nervous system as much as it can relax, hence it can be used to prepare for an important meeting or sporting event just as effectively as it does to relax you afterward!

When injury-related pain occurs, it is often accompanied by inflammation and muscle tightening/spasms. It is common to take a product that addresses only one of the above issues, not realizing your injury most often has broader needs that are not addressed by a single product. With Soft Tissue Support Pak, you are encouraged to take a holistic approach to your injury, addressing not only the pain, but also other symptoms. By doing so, the healing process is enhanced and repair of the injury is expedited.
